Eurochild

An overview of the European Union's child rights priorities 2024-2029. This will include an analysis of the Speech by President-elect of the presentation of upcoming College of Commissioners and their programme in November 2024.

Join Eurochild, Europe’s largest children’s rights network, to discuss how to enhance the EU’s commitment to child rights and improve children’s lives across the European Union. We’ll dive into the biggest priorities for children’s rights, explore how to amplify children's voices and turn policies into real impact—at both EU and national levels.

Combining our 20+ years of expertise with insights from 224 members across 42 countries, our session offers a unique and practical approach to advancing children's rights, making it a must-attend for those driving real change.

Topics of the session:
• Child Poverty and Social Exclusion: In 2023, nearly 25% of EU children faced poverty, with vulnerable groups disproportionately affected. At Eurochild we monitor progress on the European Child Guarantee through its Children’s Realities in Europe report.
• Children’s Rights in the Digital Environment: To safeguard children’s rights in digital spaces and to combat online risks like abuse and exploitation, cyberbullying, and negative mental health outcomes, we champion children's rights online by supporting Better Internet for Kids, influencing the Digital Services Act and AI Act, and urging companies to design child-friendly digital services. It advocates for proactive harm detection and prioritizes digital well-being.
• Child Participation: We amplify children's voices in EU policymaking through the Eurochild Children’s Council (ECC) and member-led initiatives. Advocacy toolkits and reports like Poverty Takes Away the Right to Childhood empower children as active citizens in a rights-based society.
