The Guide to Activism empowers through diverse stories and practical advice, fostering continuous civic engagement. Supported by IBB e.V., it's part of Generation Europe- The Academy.
The Guide to Activism is a comprehensive digital resource born from the collaboration of experienced youth workers, social researchers, and young activists, the Ambassadors, across Europe. The product is available only in English. It compiles over 40 personal stories of successful activism into six categories crucial for effective engagement. Unlike traditional guides, it encourages young people to engage in a dynamic, non-linear exploration, similar to a circuit rather than a straight path. This approach reflects the belief that activism is a continuous journey, not a finite destination. The guide, facilitated by the Guide to Activism Group and supported by organizations like the International Association for Education and Exchange (IBB e.V.), aims to empower individuals to instigate meaningful change within their communities and beyond. Young people are thus enabled to start at their point and become active and experience personal growth and empowerment on this path. Through individual narratives and curated links, it fosters a spiral of learning and action, emphasizing the ripple effect of activism in transforming individuals, communities, and the world at large. As part of Generation Europe – The Academy, it aligns with the mission of promoting social participation, enable active participation of young people and fostering cross-border collaboration among youth organizations, ultimately striving for a more just, democratic and peaceful society.
With the help of a PowerPoint presentation, a video and an interactive method with audience participation, the Guide to Activism will be presented. The focus is on the use of the Guide in youth work by professionals and self-organized youth groups. The presentation will be made by three professionals with the support of three to four Ambassadors to represent all levels of the Guide. The presentation will be held in English, with the opportunity to ask questions in German. We therefore ask for a translation if possible.
The expected time is about 1 hour and 30 min.
