Child and youth welfare guidance document to mark the 17th German Child and Youth Welfare Congress
"We create future - now!" Together with young people, the child and youth welfare organisations are tackling urgent challenges for living together in our society. This is what the child and youth welfare guidance document to mark the 17th German Child and Youth Welfare Congress is all about. In the run-up to each DJHT, the paper sets the youth policy discourse of the child and youth welfare sector on the motto of Europe's largest youth welfare summit and sets the content guidelines for the DJHT.
The child and youth welfare guidance document is based on the motto of DJHT17: "We create future - now!" Based on the nineteen motto terms, the paper takes up two perspectives on shaping the future: on the one hand, that of child and youth welfare and, on the other hand, that of young people. The starting point of the paper is the appeal of young people, among others through the Fridays for Future movement, to politics and civil society to take action in the present for the benefit of today's youth and future generations and to take seriously the responsibility for their upbringing.
The paper describes what makes young people tick, but also what challenges they face and what criticism they express of existing conditions. The paper also describes how child and youth welfare is shaping the present and the future for the benefit of young people and their families. Finally, 16 central demands clarify what young people (should) stand up for together with child and youth welfare in the present.
